Lady at her Toilette by Berthe Morisot

As she was getting ready for the day, the young woman looked into the mirror asked herself one more time, "OK, so if Lizzie Borden didn't murder her father and step-mother then WHO DID? She had the opportunity, a motive, lame to be sure, but still. . . and at least one of the murders occurred when she was most likely in the house. And she burned a dress the very next day! A puzzle indeed."

1875-1880, by Berthe Morisot (1841-1895).
