Gaiole and Radda in Chianti

The first full day of the four of us driving around the countryside took us past a lovely field of poppies growing as if they didn't have a care in the world -- and at that moment neither did we.

We spent the day visiting Radda in Chianti where we caught a glimpse of how they replaced the paving stones in those wonderful narrow streets and had a delicious lunch at a small osteria  in the middle of a vineyard just outside Radda. And the open air market in Gaiole was a genuinely eye-opening experience for all of us -- the first of many such markets we would come across in Europe.

For lunch we ate in a lovely osteria in the middle of a vineyard followed by a taste of the local wine.
