Dick and Dorothy flew in from Massachusetts and Joyce and Avery drove from Maine -- all to help Bernice celebrate her 96th birthday. It was a beautiful late afternoon when we all gathered out at Clear Bottom Lake at the Galloway-Ten Have compound, Jennifer, Scott and Claire were there and so was Laurie Ten Have-Chapman; Claire's friend Stephen came late to the party but better late than not at all, eh?
I made Sloppy Joe sandwiches, and with a lovely salad and chips we rounded the birthday meal out with a scrumptious dessert prepared by the French Tarte herself: pound cake with fresh local peaches and an incredible blueberry sauce! It was not only what the doctor ordered, it was what the doctor made to boot.
It was a lovely evening full of stories, jokes, and everyone just enjoying each other's company. You should have been there. . .
